PODCAST EXCERPT Along California’s Pacific coast is Carmel by the Sea, 125 miles south of San Francisco. Just a few blocks from the water is Rio Avenue, a narrow street with less than twenty houses. Half way down the block sits a rancher on a large lot where Sonia Herok-Stone lived with her young daughter Sasha. Sonia was slim with stunning, her bangs swept to the side emphasized her long lashes and dark eyes. Twenty-six-year-old Michael Glazebrook had just moved in across the street, he was newly married, going to college and working as a carpenter. Sonia never met him and likely wasn’t aware the Michael had been watching her. On the morning of October 15, 1981 Sonia’s four- year-old daughter went to school and Sonia headed out to run errands. Michael gained entry into Sonia’s home and waited for her to return. Note: January 17, 2024 this episode was updated with facts provided by the original Detective and Lead Investigator on the case, Linsley Dorman of the Monterey County Sheriff’s Department.
