PODCAST EXCERPT Loretta raised Randall alone in Pearisburg, Virginia. A small town of a couple thousand people buried at the base of the Appalachian mountains. There the two resided in a small rundown house with only four rooms and a basement. Growing up Randall was a loner who enjoyed fishing and hunting. In high school he didn't have a girlfriend, nor any friends for that matter. He embellished his life but nobody believed him. His habitual lying eventually earned him the nickname L.R. for 'Lying Randall'. In May 1981 Robert Mountford Junior and Laura Ramsay were hiking the Appalachian Trail when they stopped at the local grocery store and ran into Randall. That evening the couple approached the Wapiti shelter to camp for the night. Randall stopped by. He crept silently towards the shelter. His steps were silent.
MURDERER: RANDALL LEE SMITH HISTORY REPEATED Two friends hiked along the Appalachian Mountains, a trek to raise money for charity. They arrived at the Wapiti shelter for the night. But they weren't alone. Hiding in the shadows Randall's steps were silent. And deadly.
