PODCAST EXCERPT Tess, the baby of the family was sweet and outgoing. Her mother and sisters lovingly referred to her as their ‘number five’. Evan after she moved to Toronto to pursue her dreams of becoming a flight attendant, she kept in touch daily with her family. In late November 2017, 22 year-old Tess was distraught over a break- up with her boyfriend and wanted to have some fun. Her friend, Ryley suggested they go to a bar. Out on the dance floor their bodies moved to thump of the bass as they laughed and the liquor flowed. But Tess’s small frame had her feeling the effects and she’d become unsteady and just after 2:00am security asked her and Ryley to leave. Kalen Schlatter exited the bar soon after and caught up to them. As a cab drove by Tess waved it down, but Kalen waved it off. And continued to follow her.
