PODCAST EXCERPT As a young boy in California, Mark became known as Gator. Sleek and muscled, his body was like a gymnast and he excelled at vertical skate boarding. In 1980, at the age 14 he began his professional career. Mark’s ability and edginess created a unique style. And Vision Sports took notice. He was signed to endorse a line of clothing and was the first skateboarder to have his own pro-deck. As the 1980’s came to a close, skateboarding started to change. Gone were the half pipes, street skating had taken over. The smooth ramps replaced with stairwells and steep hills, it took a whole new skill set that Mark just didn’t seem to grasp.
