PODCAST EXCERPT Shirley was a tiny woman at 4’9” and less than 100 pounds. She had three children and while living in Toronto met Douglas Beamish and had two more children. But their relationship was volatile and over 15 years Doug was abusive. The couple were separated in the summer of 1992 when Doug wrote a letter to Shirley and said if they could not be together, there was no point in living. In early 1993 Shirley moved to Prince Edward Island to start over without Doug. Shirley and her five children rented an old two-story white house not far from sandy beaches and breathtaking scenery. In the fall of 1994 autumn storms were starting to roll and rain poured down. Shirley’s neighbours heard a couple having an argument and screaming. Find out how science and the DNA from a single white cat hair pointed to her killer and made history.
