PODCAST EXCERPT Clarence Ray Allen was born in 1930. By age 11 Ray was picking cotton and by the 8 th grade headed to California. At 17 Ray was married with two boys and became a deacon at the church. At 25 he was working at an olive warehouse when he fellow employees stole three-thousand cases of olives. Ray was charged, convicted and sent to jail for a year. Now divorced, he and his sons lived in Fresno. He worked days at a steel plant and nights as a security guard. At 38 Ray started his own security business that grew to 60 employees. He was successful, owned a plane and show horses. But then at 44 something in Ray changed! Now that he was alone he was free to be what he wanted. A criminal! Ray recruited Mary and his son to rob Fran’s Market. But what Ray didn’t count on was that Mary had a conscience.
